Ashland logoIn 2013 Ashland University decided to take the bold step of reducing its tuition beginning in the fall.  Now, in the middle of the first year of what the school terms a “tuition reset,” Bob Tayek speaks with Dr. Scott Van Loo, the university’s Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing about the reasons for the decision and what changes have been observed at the university at this stage of its implementation.  Education institutions throughout the country are watching with interest to assess the results of this daring undertaking.

Dialogues on Education – NASA CORE

What does a farmhouse built in 1903 in Oberlin, Ohio, have to do with science education in the 21st century?  A lot more than you might expect, as such a house is the headquarters of NASA CORE, a worldwide distribution center for educational materials from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.  Bob Tayek talks to its Director, Renee Elias, in this informative interview about NASA’s storehouse of materials ranging from posters and DVDs to curriculum development guides and how they are made available to educators at all levels.  If it is about rocketry, astronomy, or a related field, great ways to learn about it are available from this one-of-a-kind facility.   More information can be found at www.nasa.gov and the catalogue at https://corecatalog.nasa.gov/index.cfm.

Believe it or not, when our programs are recorded, they are not absolutely perfect from beginning to end.  We hope that fans are not too shocked by this revelation.   Now that you’ve accostomed yourself to this surprising fact, sit back and laugh at some of our misfortunes that have occurred during the presentations of our quiz program.  (We’re realists, at least- we expect no sympathy whatsoever!)
