Young Students Aspire to be Future Doctors

You’re never too young to learn when the material is presented in the right way.  That appears to be the philosophy behind a unique program with the goal of introducing elementary school children to the medical field.  It’s the “Little Veterinarian School” offered by Avon Lake’s Parks and Recreation Department, designed to introduce children to medicine through the study of animal health.  LaShaun Perry, a Registered Nurse and director of Little Medical School Northeast Ohio, describes to Bob Tayek this local example of the kind of national after school programs that may well be providing extra-early starts for future medical professionals.

Andrew Wright,  an instructor at Lake Ridge Academy and the man who helped to spearhead the school’s successful venture into solar power, returns to the program to describe a unique course in which students investigate biomimicry.  Students discover how plants and animals have become models for innovative human activity in many fields.

Kenneth S. Trump is a school security expert, presenter, and consultant  based in Cleveland.  His specialty is much in demand in light of growing concerns as violent incidents have become more frequent.  As President of National School Safety and Security Services, a national consulting firm, he describes to Bob Tayek various aspects of emergency preparedness training, security assessments, crisis communications, and other such things with which he deals on a daily basis.  (Ken Trump is no relation to the President.)
